We won’t publish anything until November 29, when we introduce a new site with a new design and – more important – new functionality, including:
• ability for users to comment on the systematic story reviews
• story reviewers will be named, with links to brief bios
• better separation of our story reviews (systematic, objective, criteria-driven) from our blog posts (often more subjective, with opinions and perspectives – in the nature of most blogs)
• Chart for comparing how different news organizations have performed
Much of the change is driven by user feedback. So, thank you, and stay tuned.
A pretty good example of how to handle a small, early study of a new treatment. Benefits nicely quantified, good attention to limitations, and quotes were well calibrated.
The story fell short on many levels – most importantly, on breaking down the research and its significance for readers. This was a small clinical study with limitations.
Overall, this was an easy-to-follow summary. But there was a clear difference between this and a competing Boston Globe story, which did a better job offering context and analysis.
