There are only a few days left for reporters to apply for the 2012 NIH Medicine in the Media workshop – to be held this year in Potomac, MD from October 14-17.
I’m honored to have been asked to be one of the faculty/speakers again this year.
Year after year, this has been perhaps the best opportunity for journalists to learn how to improve their critical thinking and analysis of research stories.

It’s difficult to do an overview of melanoma drug research in a relatively brief story. But this story did a solid job.
Better than a competing piece by Reuters but still a little short on some details about this asthma drug study.
An adequate summary of this asthma drug trial’s design doesn’t make up for the overly optimistic tone about the drug’s future. A New York Times story was better.
