Surprise! The CBS Early Show offered another diet segment.
Surprise! It was another free promotion for a book – this one on “The O2 Diet.” Or, as they headlined it on their website, “Eating Antioxidants for a Better You.”
Claims made on the air:
4-day cleanse in which you can lose up to 5 pounds
you’ll feel good
you’ll have better energy
your skin looks better
as a byproduct of feeling great, you lose weight
even the smell of cinnamon may relieve stress
Evidence given on the air to back up anything of those claims:
NONE
Think of what a better use could be made of that air time. And remember: if you get too stressed thinking about it, just sniff some cinnamon.

January 5, 2010 at 1:27 pmWho needs evidence? The objective the nebulous state of ‘wellness’. I saw a patient earlier today who told me she performed colonic cleansing every few months. I told her there is no scientific basis for the procedure. She responded that she knew this, but liked the cleansings because it ‘made her feel good’. I guess since I’ve performed well over 10,000 colonoscopies with the requisite cleansing, that I’ve made lots of folks feel good. http://www.MDWhistleblower.blogspot.com

January 15, 2010 at 10:35 amIt’s been 2 weeks since I started the O2 diet and people have been asking me if I lost weight, fell in love with a Romeo, cut my hair haha! How can I not love reactions like that! I think a big part of it is that fact that I’ve actually started doing something good for my health and stuck with it because it’s easy! Thanks a million Keri!
